Every Spiritualist organisation must now display this document by way of informing their visitors upon their rights within UK Law and advise visitors what any Spiritual Organisation or Individual within that Organisation can and can not provide.
The Faith of Spiritualism was recognised within British Law as being equally respected along side any main stream religion within the UK and was given all the rights and responsibilites of a Religious Belief such as the right to have Ministers and Deacons and hold Funerals, Weddings and naming ceramonies within their churches.
The UCPD has caused a lot of upset within spiritual circles since it came into force because it has placed the Spiritualist Faith under the banner of Entertainment, use of this word is hotly disputed because a heart felt faith can not be seen to be Entertainment. Spiritualism is a way of life and part of our culture both modern and ancient. It is the Spiritualist argument that surely if our faith is to be viewed as an Entertainment, then all other religous beliefs are also merely Entertainment because none of them or what they claim has been proven within accepted modern science. In other words what we believe about the hidden spirit is truly a matter of personal faith not proven fact.
It would seem that Spiritualism because of its nature has been singled out.
