Help our Native Birds

I hope the photographs below might provide a little light relief.  They certainly made me smile when I took them in our garden.  The spuggies don't stay still for long, so you have to be quick before they scatter at the slightest sound or movement.  Sparrow populations have declined over the last years because of a number of reasons.  The loss of safe nesting places in hedgerows and our human habit of keeping cats as pets being two major ones, our beloved pets can do a lot of harm to our native wildlife, precious as they are.

These little birdies come to our garden all year round and provide endless amusement with their comic antics and regular bust-ups.  We often don't pay any attention to them when we go about our daily business because they have always been there, but no matter how dowdy and small they are, they are no less loved by the great universal light.  I for one would find it a much lonelier world without their chattering and flutterings. Its the familiar things that we know lest of all.
